Initial Concept (2018)

Voice-First, Step-by-Step Recipe Guidance
I developed CoolnCook to be a hands-free kitchen assistant. The primary goal was to deliver intuitive, step-by-step recipe instructions via voice, leveraging the Google Assistant platform available at the time. My approach was deeply rooted in user empathy, aiming to simplify the cooking experience.

Key Accomplishments & Skills Demonstrated (2018 Build):

Conversational AI Design (Google Dialogflow CX):

• Architected and implemented the conversational logic using Google Dialogflow CX. This involved designing complex dialogue flows, intents, entities, and context management for a natural, voice-driven user experience.
• Utilized Miro to map out and visualize the chatbot’s conversational pathways and user journeys, ensuring a logical and intuitive step-by-step guidance system.

Backend Development & CMS Integration (WordPress):

• Developed a custom WordPress backend, creating specific post types and taxonomies to structure and manage recipe data efficiently.

API Development & System Integration (Flask, Python):

• Engineered a robust Flask-based API (Python) to serve as a dynamic webhook. This API seamlessly connected Dialogflow CX with the WordPress recipe database.
• Ensured real-time updates: New recipes added to the WordPress backend were automatically accessible via the chatbot, providing a dynamic content experience.

User-Centric Design Principles:

• The entire voice interface and interaction model were designed with user empathy at the forefront, focusing on clear, unambiguous step-by-step instructions for a truly hands-free and supportive cooking experience.
• When the initial voice platform’s capabilities changed, this user-centric foundation guided the development of an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) to maintain accessibility to the recipe guidance.

Evolution & Future Vision (Leveraging Generative AI):

While the initial focus was voice, the underlying robust architecture allowed for adaptation. My current explorations (detailed in my Medium article [Link to Medium Article]) focus on integrating advanced generative AI (e.g., LLMs, VAEs/GANs) and enhanced AI personalization to elevate CoolnCook into a highly intelligent and creative culinary partner, building upon the original vision of an intuitive, step-by-step assistant.
