Salatful — A Guided Islamic Prayer Companion

Crafted with care to combine mobile development and user-centered experience design.

Date: Avril 01, 2025

Overview

Salatful is a mobile application designed to help users learn and perform Islamic prayer (Salat) with accuracy, confidence, and ease. This project reflects my end-to-end UX design and development capabilities, from ideation to deployment.

UX Design Process

  • User-Centered Approach: The project began with identifying pain points in existing Islamic apps, notably poor usability and outdated interfaces. My goal was to build a minimal, modern, and intuitive design to support both beginners and those seeking to improve their prayer.
  • Design Tool: I created the complete UI and UX flow using Figma, iterating through several prototypes to test clarity, hierarchy, and accessibility.
  • Design Decisions: The app uses clean typography, ample spacing, and a neutral palette with support for dark and light modes to enhance usability in various contexts (e.g., during early morning or night prayers).

Development Stack & Execution

  • FlutterFlow: I used FlutterFlow to turn the design into a fully functional cross-platform application. It allowed rapid prototyping and integration of Firebase services.
  • Firebase Integration:
    • Authentication for secure user onboarding.
    • Firestore (Google Cloud) for managing content like tips, conditions, and prayer steps.
    • Push Notifications: Configured to deliver daily prayer insights and reminders.
  • Multiplatform Deployment:
    • iOS: Deployed via TestFlight.
    • Android: Tested on Google Play Console.

Motivation & Vision

Many Islamic applications lack thoughtful UX and design. This project aims to elevate the digital Islamic learning experience by introducing a refined, respectful, and accessible user interface.

This is a personal initiative, driven by the belief that quality digital tools can support spiritual growth. It also demonstrates how cultural and religious contexts can benefit from modern UX principles.

Current Status & Next Steps

  • Public Beta: Available for testing Link to TestFlight.
  • Content Validation: Ongoing collaboration with knowledgeable peers to review accuracy.
  • User Testing: Collecting feedback across various personas to refine UX.

Future Development

  • Expand the content library regularly with authenticated material.
  • Integrate AI & computer vision to assess user’s prayer practice and provide feedback.
  • Add localization support for multiple languages.
  • Introduce audio-visual aids for auditory learners.
